Thriller Flashmob 2016

Project/ Performance Overview

Thriller, was become an October ritual for the VPA dancers. Each year classes create costumes and choreography as part of a unit that analyzes the style of the iconic master work. As a culminating assessment of this unit, students will perform the Thriller Flashmob at Washington Elementary School and 9th Grade Academy on Friday, October 28th. Rubric coming soon.

Creating the Choreography

The sections have been selected under the best judgement of Ms. Z to allow for the most accessible way to craft this performance piece without previous rehearsal.

Costumes

As part of this unit, we will create costumes for our thriller tour. Students should plan to provide a white shirt, bottoms, and flexible sneakers/ boots to dance in. White shirts are due on Monday, October 24th for costume distressing. Students can purchase white t-shirts from Ms. Z for $3. 

Students will work to create their costumes in class on 10/25/16.

  • 8:15 am Dance students report to school at VPA during normal arrival time
  •  8:15-8:45 am Run Rep
  • 8:45-9:40 am Get dressed
  • 9:45-10:00am Dance students walk to Washington Elementary School
  • 10:30 am Dance students perform at Washington Elementary School
  • 10:45- 11:00 am Dance students walk from Washington Elementary School to VPA SLC
  • 11:05-11:55 am Dance students attend 1st lunch period at VPA
  • 12:00pm Dance students board the bus and travel to 9th Grade Academy
  • 12:30pm Dance students arrive to the 9th Grade Academy
  • 1:30pm Performance at 9th Grade Academy
  • 2:00pm Dance students board the bus and travel to VPA
  • 2:30pm Dance students return to VPA

    • Watch the first 3 minutes of each
    • Vote as a class on which one you would like to do
  • Play the video and face the back wall
  • At the end of 3rd block, return the laptop to Ms. Bristow & Turn the projector off with the big remote.
